About the Role Do you love bringing people together, obsess over the perfect event flow, and get a tiny thrill from a well-organized spreadsheet? Are you the type who can turn a chaotic room into a buzzing community hub in under 10 minutes? If so, you might be our next Events & Community Engagement Manager.
This role steers the ship for our monthly member events and five big, public-facing extravaganzas each year. You’ll be the mastermind behind gatherings that celebrate local businesses, spark connections, and remind people why Louisville’s independent businesses make it special.

What You’ll Do
Monthly Member Events
· Dream up and execute member meetups, workshops, happy hours, panel chats—whatever brings our local business community together.
· Hunt down great venues, fabulous food, and speakers who don’t put people to sleep.
· Spread the word in fun, creative ways.
· Keep events fresh, friendly, and totally worth showing up for.
Five Major Public Events and Event Series
· Own the planning, production, and day-of magic for five of our biggest public happenings: Louisville Local Business Expo (January), Buy Local Fair (June), South Points Buy Local Fair (July), Small Business Saturday events for West, and for South (November).
· Our West Louisville volunteer teams will work with you to produce the West On Wednesday series (approx. 4 times/year) and West Louisville Trailblazers (approx. 2 times/year).
· Work with vendors, volunteers and sponsors like a boss.
· Build timelines that run smooth and come in on time
Community + Connection
· Become a familiar, friendly face to members, partners, volunteers, and everyone who loves local.
· Coordinate the monthly huddles of our West and South teams of committed volunteers.
· Build relationships that make events easier, better, and more joyful.
· Help people feel like they’re part of something bigger.
Communications & Creative Stuff
· Team up on event promotions, graphics, storytelling, and social content.
· Comfortable talking to local media outlets.
Admin
· Track budgets, contracts, invoices, and attendance. We’re a nonprofit, so all our events raise dollars and awareness for the cause.
· Keep event details organized in ways that future-you will thank you for.
· Become an expert in Wild Apricot, a user-friendly online membership software program that tracks our members, events, and invoices, and also generates our website and newsletters.
